About Raccoon

I’m Julius Mittenzwei, the founder of Raccoon. I’ve been building software and businesses since 1998.

Julius Mittenzwei, founder of Raccoon

I co-founded GRIN.com, which grew from a student project into an established self-publishing business, and later Open Publishing, where I spent fourteen years as co-founder and CTO. We built ERP software for publishers to manage catalogues, orders, distribution, invoicing and royalty accounting—generating millions of invoices for purchases through online shops and other sales channels.

Open Publishing joined Zebralution in 2024. In 2026, I successfully exited my ownership in Open Publishing following the acquisition of Zebralution by Bookwire, backed by Insight Partners.

Raccoon is my next venture: software that brings invoicing, quotations, payments, supplier bills, stock and customer records together, with an AI assistant to help with the daily work.

Experience that matters here

Building ERP software taught me how much depends on getting the everyday details right. Orders need to reach the right place. Reports need to reconcile. Invoices, payments and royalties need to be accounted for. People build their working day around these systems.

That experience shapes how I’m building Raccoon. When you put your business records into a new product, you’re placing trust in both the software and the people responsible for it. I take that responsibility seriously.

My background also includes a doctorate in law and admission to the Munich bar in 2007. Legal and technical questions have been connected throughout my working life.

A founder you can reach

Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with the people using our software: listening to the challenges they face in their daily work and building tools to help solve them. That is how I want to build Raccoon too.

I’m directly involved in the product, and I want to hear from you. If you have a question, an idea or a feature request—or something simply isn’t working as you need it to—write to me at hello@rccn.io.

Raccoon is new. I bring more than twenty-five years of building and running software businesses to it—and the ambition to build something useful for many more.
