E-invoices in ZUGFeRD and UBL
Your customer gets a normal PDF, and compatible accounting software can read the invoice data inside it. Switch it on once and every invoice you finalize carries it.

One invoice, readable by people and by software
With ZUGFeRD switched on, the invoice PDF also carries the invoice data in the European EN 16931 format. In France the same format is called Factur-X. Your customer can open the PDF as usual, and compatible software can read amounts, VAT and items from the file.
Invoice PDFs are generated in PDF/A-3 format, whether or not you use e-invoicing.
A Peppol UBL file when a customer asks for one
Switch on the UBL export and Raccoon also writes a Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 file for each invoice you finalize. You send it to the customer yourself; Raccoon does not connect to the Peppol network.
Both switches are in your invoice settings and are off until you turn them on, so nothing changes for customers who just want a PDF.
Receive e-invoices as supplier bills
Upload a ZUGFeRD PDF or an XML e-invoice such as an XRechnung. Raccoon reads the structured invoice data, fills in the supplier bill and flags anything to check. You approve it.
For German deadlines and exceptions, see our German e-invoicing overview (in German).
Tax-authority clearance is a different thing
E-invoicing requirements differ by country. Raccoon does not submit invoices to tax authorities. See the country pages for the current scope and limitations:
Common questions
Which e-invoice formats does Raccoon create?
A ZUGFeRD / Factur-X PDF in the EN 16931 profile, with the invoice data embedded in the PDF, and on request a separate Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 file in UBL. Both are switched on in your invoice settings.
Does Raccoon create XRechnung or send over Peppol?
No. Raccoon does not create XRechnung files and does not send invoices over the Peppol network. You send invoices by email from Raccoon. You can receive an XRechnung as a supplier bill.
Does Raccoon submit invoices to KRA or FIRS?
Not today. Raccoon does not clear invoices with a tax authority. Each country page says where Raccoon stands.
Can I start for free?
Yes. The free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card. Paid plans are billed monthly, with prices and limits shown for your country.
